After tasting 27 samples from the Tumsong, Lingia, Marybong, Ging, Bannockburn, Tukdah and Phoobsering gardens yesterday, we selected and reserved two of the Darjeeling First Flushes of this year. We are most happy that among all the eager buyers we managed to get the two teas in which we had been interested from the very beginning and which seemed the best during tasting. We are less pleased by their price, which is again noticeably higher than previous year. It has almost become a tradition. Only the reason why this year’s teas are more expensive changes.
The situation is more difficult this year because the teas are still held behind the gardens’ gates. It is really difficult to estimate when the blockade will end. There are some indications from our friends in Darjeeling that it might be during the next week. We all hope for that.
