This article is a summary of many rounds of tea degustation we got through to select and choose the best of fresh teas from Darjeeling and Nepal. Wa have tasted the first Darjeelings in middle of March at the moment the embargo was still happening. The FF export embargo was luckily ended at the end of March. The tea samples from Nepal came a bit later and next are on the way. The nepalese season always starts a bit later than in Darjeeling.
On Sunday, March 27, we managed to be present for unloading of freshly fired pottery from the kiln. The ceramists Petr Novák and Mirka Randová, whose work you already know from our website, live in the village of Doupě, where they are reconstructing a farmhouse and building the Ceramics Studio Doupě (www.kcdoupe.cz). They use it for their own work as well as for holding ceramic workshops and meetings.
After tasting 27 samples from the Tumsong, Lingia, Marybong, Ging, Bannockburn, Tukdah and Phoobsering gardens yesterday, we selected and reserved two of the Darjeeling First Flushes of this year.
This post is my very belated continuation of the article on the Mungyeong Tea Bowl Festival, which we published last summer. It basically continues the narration of our relatively short trip to South Korea which we undertook with my friend – ceramist Petr Novák in spring 2010.
